UNEP FI Global Roundtable 2024
The UNEP FI Global Roundtable is the premier event driving sustainable finance worldwide. The biennial event brings together banks, insurers, investors, policymakers, and civil society to shape the sustainable finance agenda and catalyze action across the financial system. With a 30+ year history, it serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and strategic dialogue, helping align the financial industry with global goals like the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement.
The UNEP FI 18th Global Roundtable will be held on 10-11 December in Geneva, Switzerland. The event will convene UNEP FI members, policymakers, civil society organisations, academia, and more to discuss the advancement of sustainable finance, its challenges, and solutions across the globe.
In addition to having the opportunity to network with the finance community in the region, speakers and participants discuss practical approaches to setting and implementing targets in areas including net zero, nature, impact, pollution, human rights, and financial inclusion to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
The panel “Just Transition Incorporating Human Rights into Climate Finance” delves into how high-level commitments to a just transition, supported by legislation and global standards, are being operationalized across industries. Panelists discuss how the private sector can take practical steps to embed just transition principles into their business activities through the inclusion of just transition principles in product and service offerings.
The session highlights examples of metrics to monitor and measure impact and will also discuss the role of stakeholder engagement and social dialogue to ensure that local and Indigenous communities are included as decision makers and beneficiaries of the transition to renewable energy.
