Building Bridges 2024

As part of Building Bridges 2024, this interactive workshop delves into mobilizing the financial sector to support a just transition - ensuring that the move to a low-carbon economy is not only environmentally sustainable but also equitable for all stakeholders, including workers, communities, and vulnerable populations.

Organized by the International Labour Organization and the Impact Investing Institute, and featuring collaboration with leading experts from the Geneva Cnter for Business and Human Rights, LuxDev, BNP Paribas and BlueOrchard, this session offers a comprehensive pathway to embedding just transition principles into financial institutions’ strategies and operations.

The workshop adopts a world café format, fostering dynamic, guided discussions where participants and experts will collaboratively outline a roadmap for scaling just transition finance, framed by six key steps: Commit, Understand, Strategize, Implement, Measure, and Partner.

Highlights include:

  • Insights into the concept of just transition and its integration into finance.
  • Research findings on social risks and human rights impacts during the low-carbon transition.
  • Practical tools and case studies from the financial sector.
  • Collaborative dialogue on accelerating actions through public-private partnerships.

This session is a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping a just transition finance framework that balances environmental and social priorities while driving systemic change.
