SBE Annual Meeting - Political CSR in Times of War
This panel focuses on redefining the role of businesses during intense armed conflicts, particularly in contemporary/recent wars, such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the war in the Tigray region in Ethiopia, and the Saudi Arabian-led military operations in Yemen. These conflicts involve various organized actors, and they are characterized by extreme violence, destruction, and significant civilian mortality.
The panel aims to shed light on the political responsibility of businesses in war zones and explore how firms can navigate these challenging contexts responsibly. Key questions addressed during the discussion include:
- How can we define or redefine the political CSR of Business in times of war?
- What is the political responsibility of business in times of war?
- How can firms responsibly navigate such difficult contexts?
